What Are FX Forward Outrights and Swaps?
While the FX spot market handles immediate currency trades, the FX forward market is designed for transactions set to occur at a future date.
FX Forward Outrights allow you to lock in an exchange rate today (the forward rate) for a currency trade that will settle on a specified future date.
FX Swaps involve two transactions: a simultaneous purchase and sale (or vice versa) of one currency for another, with two different settlement dates. This enables you to agree today on both the initial exchange and the reverse transaction at a later date.
