What is a Chart Indicator?

Chart indicators are analytical tools used to interpret price action and help identify potential trading opportunities. These indicators are typically based on historical price, volume, or open interest data and are designed to assist in forecasting future price movements.

They can be used to analyse various market factors, including:

  • Trends
  • Momentum
  • Volatility
  • Volume
  • Support and resistance levels

Traders often combine multiple indicators to build a more complete picture of market conditions and improve decision-making.

How to Add Indicators to Your Charts

When viewing an advanced chart, you’ll find a range of tools located in the top-right corner of the chart window. To apply technical indicators:

  1. Click on the ‘Indicators’ button (icon shown below).
  2. A list of available indicators will appear.
  3. Select your desired indicator to apply it to the chart.
  4. Customise the settings if needed (e.g. period, colour, display style).

This allows you to tailor the chart to suit your trading strategy and analysis preferences.
